Your Advisory Committee

Lauryn Smith was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1990. She graduated from high school in 2009. In 2010, she earned her certification as a nursing assistant from OSU-OKC, and attended college at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. In the fall of 2018, Lauryn became a member of the Helotes Humane Society. Since joining, she has fostered many dogs and cats, and enjoys helping and coordinating events hosted by the Helotes Humane Society. In January 2020, Lauryn was voted in to be an Executive Board Member for the Helotes Humane Society, where she currently serves as a board member. As an animal advocate, she is passionate about volunteering her time, talent, and resources, to bringing awareness to animal rights within, and around, our wonderful community. In her free time, Lauryn enjoys art, photography, hiking, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her family.

Hunter Balzen was born and raised in San Antonio, having only left to attend college. He has a passion for conservation and all things outdoors. He and his wife enjoy camping and exploring their State and National Parks during their vacations. The majority of his free time is spent landscaping and gardening.

Tera Lawrence and her family moved here in 2019 coming from Colorado Springs, Colorado at the direction of the United States Army. Her and her ex-husband share six amazing children, the youngest of which is the only one she still has at home.  She enjoys community service and the outdoors (when it’s not 100 degrees outside and humid) She spends most of her free time with her daughter, volunteering or working in the yard.
